Inspection of defects on Teflon tape

Inspection of defects on Teflon tape

The purpose of the system is to inspect the surface of the Teflon strip before cutting, in order to detect defects such as inclusions, holes, cracks and PTFE deficiencies. The detection of the above defects results in marking of the area where it occurs with the marking head.

The tape marking system consists of two units:

  • Tape inspection unit
  • Tape Guide and Marking Unit

A single image to be inspected covers 100 mm of tape. The camera uses signals from a bench mounted encoder to build the image. The images are then analyzed using vision algorithms.

The detection of a defect on the surface of the Teflon tape triggers the marking from the place with defect for the next 200mm. The tape speed for marking is reduced. When the operation is complete, the speed returns to normal.

For convenient and intuitive operation of the station, 3 menus have been created on the touchpanel: The Main Menu, Audit Mode Menu, and the Job Setup Menu.
